Our mission

Energy Club received support to carry on influencing decision-making processes concerning the PLEX of the Paks NPP and the question of building new reactors, as well as to increase the transparency of the nuclear sector and to ensure public participation. The coordinated work of the greens is essential – just like in the past years, the Energy Club played a determining role in the coalition. They also contacted the local public especially in the regions affected by the planned uranium mine, but also in the region of the NPP and the planned radioactive waste depository in Bátaapáti. As an extension of last year’s project, a conference was organized on the phase-out possibilities of Hungary. With seminars on the environmental and economic problems of nuclear energy they kept on building capacity of the staff and volunteers of NGOs, in order to equip them with a set of argumentations while doing their job.

In the frame of the Joint Project several Central and Eastern European organizations are working together, supporting each others local projects. As a common agreement the Joint Project focused on the uranium mining plans in the region and the anti-Mochovce work this year

The objective of the project is to develop the organization through targeted knowledge input. Research work substantiates the involvement of a new generation of active members using a method which incorporates alternative programs with elements of community work into the organisation's scope. Young people involved in the association will thus become more active and the spirit of the community receives more attention from their side. They will also receive mentoring support to act responsibly, and show how to achieve and realise their plans and ideas.

The primary objective of the project is to create a comprehensive education and teaching material about civil society. By constructing a complex supplementary material and elaborating the methodological background it, knowledge about the third sector may become part of the curriculum, so when young people choose a career civil society can become an option besides the state and business.

The project aims at moving the foundation closer to sustainability, by operational and HR capacity development for the strategic period of 2008-2011, alongside the main directions as laid down in their core business strategy. Thus the organisation will become stronger, more stable and a more attractive employer. By means of this project thesy also intend to make operational activities more sustainable and predictable in the long run.

The goal of this project is to improve the efficiency and professionalism of Hungarian youth NGOs, and thus involve more young people in the activities. Through this they also aim at facilitating active citizenship among young people, as well as improving their chances on the labour market through acquiring new skills and competences.

The objective is to expand the role of civic control in a domain which is presently considered taboo in Hungary. Public control of national security services is almost non-existant in our country,as opposed to the practice of other European countries. Lately, numerous events have surfaced in respect of the national security services and all these point out the need of this control.The foundation would like to contribute to creating a consultative committee to represent laymen interest, free of everyday partisan politics.

The alliance will focus on advocating the interest of tele-houses through participating in negotiations with the government, in preparatory process, and through systematising information and and transmitting it to the public IT access points, standard press image and communication. Above all, they elaborate professional metholodigical materials, pilot models for the points, generate common project ideas and develop a network of professional collaboration.

To project aims at supporting the fight against trafficking in women and prostitution through building a system for victims based on interdisciplinary co-operation . It intends to establish co-operation among the governmental authorities for a more appropriate legal policy. The other goal of the project is to strengthen the legal enforcement skills and assertive capacities of NGOs working in the above mentioned fields. It aims to facilitate civic co-operation to change existing laws and to work out the protocols of an integrated care system. As a result the framework of co-operation within the care system would be regulated, and the psychological, social expertise would become part of the education of the police. The situation of women victims will improve, and the number of criminal cases will decrease.

The foundation's aims at improving its educational and legal defence services in order to enable it to protect human and minority rights as well as to raise awareness regarding equal treatment and opportunities more effectively. In the framework of the project they would have the anti-discrimination training accredited so as to reach a wider target group and raise incomes to finance other activities. Additionally, the foundation's strategic plan would be drawn up during the project.

The organisation will set up a new network of NGO-s working for autistic people 'Autiháló', collect data for a nationwide map about services available to autistic people and about the communities are lacking those, improve the capacity of the organisation and its experts and launch 2 trainings for local NGOs.

The program seeks to create a community café, basically run by volunteers.They café shall facilitate the creating of new community goups and serve as a permanent place for their basic activities, exchange as well as provide opportunities to contact other persons or organisations.The community café is to be a place open for everyone, offering possibilities for organisations and individuals to get to know each other, to think and work together.

The project's goal is to strengthen the role, activity and participation of civic organizations in decision making processes on the local and regional levels especially in the disadvantaged small rural communities. They will working to create a new, highly effective method for increasing citizen participation in the whole decision making process of their community and surrounding area, implementing and develop civic organisations in the small communities belonging to the Alsómocsolád micro-region (5 villages).

The objective of the project is to spread information about EU legislation concerning people with disabilities and about its transposition into Hungarian legislationamong advocacy associations, as well as to detect the deficiencies thereof. Furthermore, it is also an objective to review how disability related regulations of the European Union and the national legislation implementing them affect or could affect the local (in the case of this project the Budapest capital level and district level) decision making. As a result of the project, adovcacy groups of people with disabilities will grow stronger by becoming familiar with EU and related regulation.

The project serves to facilitate partnership between HIA and corporate volunteers. The project increases HIA’s capacity building in the field of working with volunteers coming from companies, and during the project the organisation will become better in establishing a dialogue between the Hungarian business and non-profit sectors highlighting values like solidarity and the equality of opportunities.

The goal of the project is to strengthen civil society in Csongrád county trough the development of volunteering which will reinforce the sustainability, the continous improvement and the effective capacity appropriation of the civil sector in the future, as well as enlarge the number of committed and involved citizens accepting social responsibility and expand the social appreciation of voluntary work.

The aim of the project is to help young people of certain settlements in Northeastern Hungary to access information in a direct form from authentic sources. These young people should meet the methods of community work in a manner that can be applied independently later. The community activity creates a positive lifestyle, where the bases of democratic social participation become familiar to them. This knowledge can be used in the future in other communities and in the society as a citizen. The program increases the ability of these disadvantaged settlements to keep/support youth as well.

The local organisation aims at improving public responsibility, awareness and initiative, and at encouraging advocating for interests. Through the project, the will develop the workflow of the organisation, including defining areas of management responsibility, seeking assignments matching the competences of members and developing fluent channels for information flow and an nnouncement system of sufficient quality.

The aim of the project is the development of the nomad camp and holiday-house of Somogybükkösd operated by the society. The society has been organising summer camps for socially disadvantaged pupils twice a year for fifteen years. The increasing needs call for the development of the present infrastructure to realise the recreation and education of even more socially disadvantaged pupils. A group of addict people help in the development, accompanied by mentalhygiene-specialists. A further aim is to make it possible for those families who cannot afford a holiday together because of being socially disadvantaged or having an addict family member to use the holiday-house for that purpose.

The general aim of the project is to increase the working capacity of civil society organisations, regardless of their field of activity through creating a unified openly available information system. More specificially this system will help develop cooperation between organisations, enable the wider usage of their knowledge and increase their efficiency; increase the legal operation of CSOs, their professionalism and simplify administrative tasks; increase consciousness of people meeting NGOs, their need for transparency and develop stronger relations; and finally provide a general view and practical information to the new entrants of the sector.

The project aims at developing the operational and human resource capacity of civic organisations of the Bihar micro-region, at improving their situation and the social opportunities, strengthening them by giving organization development services, training and by implementing and maintaining an information and consultant network on the long run.

The project’s overall, long-term objective is to enhance the participation of people with disabilities in policy making. The specific objectives of the project are to build advocacy capacity of disabled people’s organisations and to enhance cooperation between DPOs and state administration bodies. The organisation will monitor and help the national implementation of the UN convention on the rights of people with disabilities.

The project aims at assisting non-profit organisations to improve the quality of their activities and their organisational culture, by establishing SESAM Academy for Senior Volunteering in Hungary.This will offer seniors, mainly thise who have been in management positions in the business or public sector, opportunities to use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society, assist 40 non-profit organisations to improve the quality of their organisational culture and activities, train trainers for the sustainability of the project, publish a website and Manual on senior volunteering and to introduce Hungarian and European senior volunteering in local and national media.

It’s primary objective is – with the help of its community medium, the Civil Radio - to give voice to and present those organisations and issues, which are acting in the interest of socially important goals. In order to reinforce this activity the foundation will realise a complex program, in which they bring together the most important Hungarian civic organisations, so that they can set up task forces to enforce professional interests. These task forces will be able to better represent their causes in collaboration with the communication arsenal of Civil Radio. By simply presenting their programs as well as the socially useful and burning issues they represent to a wider public, they will be able to involve more people into their initiatives and this will bring socially significant issues more in the focus.

The organisation's goal is the integration of the non-profit organisations of the Ister-Granum Euroregion, by strengthening their professionalism and negotiating power, thus making regionalism more accepted in society following the termination of borders. They will start developing a cross-border regional non-profit service providing system, inclluding its IT and quality assurance. They will organise professional training for the employees of the service providing offices, help strengthen the at present low level social responsibility of the companies of the Euroregion and develop of the information flow among non-profit organisations.

The general aims of the project are focusing on the strengthening of youth communities in Kecskemét and its surrounding region. The project itself is meant to improve the qualities of everyday life of the local youth and to encourage them to stay in the area. This would be done by setting up frameworks in which they are provided with facilities to acquire the skills necessary for community living through developing their own creativity and ideas whether they wish to do it voluntarily or as ordinary users.

The association wishes to develop the only remaining water-mill of the Mohács micro-region, having roots back to the 14th century, into a complex site of heritage protection.The project aims to restore the water-mill and make it open to the public, also presenting millering and other folk crafts connected to the region. Thus they will establish a living museum andcreate an occasion for the visitors and participants of the programs to enjoy learning these crafts.

The project aims at keeping the intellectual and material inheritane of the 'Palóc' customs alive, promoting artisan customs and proving usefulness and necessity in the life of the mankind in the 21st century. To give a joyful experience to everybody with food, drinks, tales, dances and music. Besides, the project will call attention to the community power of the peasant culture which gives self-esteem, to its value, its artistic complexity and its relationship with other arts, its positive effects on the human relationships, its usefulness in education. They will also point out the progress in which the value of a disappearing world becomes the part of our life again, by bringing into existence a scene – a showroom for exhibitions, workshops - that can be used to organise different programs and workshops.

The association aims at the development of the landscape, ecotourism, society and economy of the Bükkalja region, as a complex cultural environment, through its unique values and the protection of the traditional "stone culture“ of the area. Furthermore, to make the values of cultural history presentable, with special regard to the beehive rocks, they will open and informatio center, erect information panels and prepare printed as well as electronic information material.

To protect rural community space, and strengthen the local identity and the attachment of youth to their homeland through the conservation of landscape and cultural heritage. Beyond this the conservation of cultural diversity maintaining local traditions.

To support the gipsy folk culture and promote its values through organising a 6-day international gipsy dance festival. Its programs will improve gipsy image with the help of the media, represent minority interest and develop the tourism of the region.

In order to preserve the unique mental and physical, natural and cultural heritage of the Szentendre region and to reveal its hidden values the foundation will introduce local products into commerce. Through a mixture of activities (including the training of local tourist guides and teachers, setting up a visitor center) they would like to ensure the long-term sustainable use of all these and as a result improve the living conditions of the local residents. The main goal is that the citizens of the region be proud of their environment, and ready to show it to the visitors.

The project's goal is to re-establish the original function of the Monument Heritage prison-chapel combined with its current library function and to create a multifunctional cultural place for religious practice, education and personal development for a successful reintegration of the - usually disadvantaged - prisoners.

Dunaszekcsõ has a very rich heritage from the Roman Times. Its conservation and exhibition could be an example for other settlements as well.Hungarian cultural, archeological, natural and artificial heritages are protected by the governmental and civic organisations, but their effectiveness depends on the knowledge of the local people. The primary goal is to teach theoretical knowledge to the children about the World Heritage places or other heritage measures and to create a better infrastructure and education system to this end.

The association aims at creating a network of historical and military re-enactment groups related to castles or fortresses. They would like to develop a qualification system for the participating associations and to promote their works, programs and objectives to the broader public by employing a variety of interactive methods.

The project aims at developing a transport development concept for the Gyõr–Veszprém railway line, under legal protection by the National Office of Cultural Heritage, for suburban use and in tourism, and to prepare the basic conditions for the regional operation of passenger traffic. In addition to that, they will present and protect the values of the historic monument railway.

The overall goal of the project is to establish an education centre providing high quality trainings in the field of the maintenance and preservation of built heritage. To this end, the organisation will renovate and equip its training center, and organise trainings during the project.

The project aims at transforming the attitude and building capacity among Hungarian museum professionals to enable them and their museums to fully discover their potential to participate in civic, social and economic developments. By the end of the 2nd year, project participants will explore national and international best practices of museums' involvement in civic participation and community development; acquire the necessary skills and build capacity through the active participation in workshops.

The association received 10,000 analogue photos for their national picture taking action in year 2000. These comprise the basic collection of the “Public visual blog” website. On the long run, this community website will be enlargeable, supplementary and freely connected to other sites by anyone.

The project aims at restoring the social value of the natural and cultural heritage of the Rábaköz area, primarily by making the legend of 'Hany Istók' become the symbol of the area's image. Through this, they hope to make tradition and environmental awareness part of the everyday life of the region's inhabitants. The central element of this will be humans living again in harmony with their environment and nature, care for and save the its values, take active role in their community's self-organisation and thereby in its development.

The foundation will introduce Hungarian and minority cultures to young people with the help of tale-telling and exhibitions. Further goals include the improvement of social awareness, defending minorities’ cultural inheritance and interests as well as the organisation of roundtables to encourage professional cooperation among the sectors.

The aim of the project is to carry out a research and an exhibition that provides a deeper insight into the historical period of Miskolc, which is still considered as a stigmatising, stereotyping heritage for the town: the socialist traditions and culture (1950s- 60s), using methods of cultural and historical anthropology ie. oral history method and the analysis of contemporary sources. They will spread the results through several means such as providing thrill-lessons for pupils and student in schools, an exhibition and a brochure.

The primary goal of the project is to create a workshop with an oven suitable for preparing ancient, traditional meals, and to involve the schools into the baking procedure. The next goal is to develop a dynamic system to maintain the old culture of bakery and and to introduce new products in the theme of bread-baking by mixing the opportunities of existing workshops, and finally to gather recipes about bread-baking. Beyond that they hope to create a satisfied, self-esteemed and healthy local community as well as decrease unemployment, under-education and build a local resource of family income.

The organisation will develop a friendly guest catering network and qualification system in the settlements connected to South Transdanubia’s nature protection areas, thereby protect the values of the villages' natural environment and develop complex, sustainable tourism with the contribution of the local population.

The project will preserve the cultural heritage of the region, the lower Bükk mountain range by improving tourism and preserving local crafts in co-operation with cultivators of contemporary arts, and more specificially, by saving and transmitting the tradition of an almost omitted local craft: the hazelwicker-work. They will establish a basketwicker workshop; construct a ’hill-house gallery’ (an ecological earth-house) and promote the ’Farkaskő’ cave-colony of artists situated in the fields of the village Noszvaj.

To uphold the Jewish culturalheritage of the nation for the next generations in digital format, and to make it available to everyone through the internet. The project emphasises the importance of such tangible heritage, strewn throughout the nation, and hitherto not collected by any official institution. These objects have to be preserved through special photos and elaborate descriptions.

Serbian people living in Deszk have transferred their customs and culture through everyday life with the help of the orthodox church. The project goal is to promote Serbian culture, customs and native language among the next generations in Deszk.

The projct will present Romany occupations and traditions in a two-hours audio-visual tool in English, Hungarian, Romanian, Romany and Slovak languages, inclulding their culture, language, history andcustoms, as well as the civil (Romani pativ) and criminal laws (Romani Kris) of the Romas through an online website. They will fight against the false stereotypes of the Roma people by the introducing theor sofar hidden and unknown traditions.

The foundation will use it community center to encourage the development of an educated class in the gypsy community, to prevent dropout of school and to help the process of proper socialisation in families.

The aim of the project is to promote theatre in education as an innovative pedagogic and art methodology. Theatre in Education (TIE) is a non-formal educational method, a tool of community development and mental health education as well as an enormous opportunity to create and help constructive life-guidance.

The aim of the project is to establish a Pre-integration Unit at the Bicske Refugee Reception Centre for torture surviving refugees suffering of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The Pre-integration Unit applies a multi-disciplinary approach, in other words, apart from individual and group therapies, art and Hungarian cultural workshops will also take place. This complex package helps torture victims process deep trauma and get better as far as their mental health are concerned. With intercultural workshops it also prepares them for life after leaving the reception centre.

The goals of the project are the organisation and running of dayover (ages 4-7) and afternoon (primary school pupils) child care programs, which aim at skill development, for the multiple underprivileged children in Arló.

The foundation will disseminate knowledge about and form awareness towards poverty, social responsibility and self-care, and involve more volunteers into such activities. Their main tool to this end will be the "100 poorest" film festival and campaign, showing films dealing with the syllabus of poverty.

The goal of the project is to reach out to wider circle with an alternative helping method applying sport and art as a therapeutic tool to restore the mental and physical state of the people in homelessness and at a disadvantage. The success experienced in sport and art strengthens the fighting spirit and opens a gate to the broading of the narrowed human relations. The usual relationship between social worker and client changes: it provides an opportunity to co-operate as team members having a common goal, giving new roles to the clients and weakening the possible forming of homeless identity. The association's ambition is to increase social cohesion by calling attention to the importance of solidarity and tolerance.

The aim of this project is to create mental aid and hospice service for patients suffering from cancer in 13 settlements of the Szentendre region with trained local volunteers.Although mental hygenic assistance is medically proven to improve the quality of cancer patients' life and to increase the chances of recovery, the Hungarian health system cannot supply its patients with these services. Currently, in the settlements of the region, not mental aid neither hospice service can be found, therefore, the project could fill a gap.

Introducing and disseminating two new attendance methods - Portage and EarlyBird - for completing early intervention of children with disabilities and their families; using these, training and supporting parents and further professionals.

The organisation will create a youth football team based on the Göncöl Völgység Apprentice School for 10-16 years old students living in Bonyhád and the neighbouring villages, mainly for those with disadvantages who identify themselves as Roma; arrange regular training sessions, matches, sport events and community programs. The precondition of membership is to participate in the developing sessions of the apprentice school with the guidance of mentors, work toward school success, accept the operating rules of the community and to sign a contract stipulating these.

Project goals are to develop a complex supporting program that is independent from shelters and enables people to break out of the homeless circle, as well as to counter the prejudices against the homelesses in our society. The organisation would like to introduce the public to specific personal stories rather than share generalities. The target group of the project is 20 homeless people ready to move on them, who will be aided in acquiring a job and a salary through professional training, thus enabling them to leave homeless services and become independent. These 20 stories will be documented and published with the support of the social workers involved through case discussions and professional workshops.

The project will help disadvantaged youth to orient themselves in the labour market, develop their self-knowledge and form their career through a he practice-oriented programme, based on partnership and co-operation. Children will be involved as active organisers and actors in to the programme, thus, they will remain highly motivated, but families will be continuously informed, too. An important additional goal is to enable children to focus on their activity, work phases and to experience the difficulties and delights of work.

The long-term goals of the project are to relieve health care institutes, to improve the quality of health care services and to increase the role of the foundation in the field of providing services completing health care by introducing volunteer programs. For this reason 10 volunteer- coordinators will be trained, volunteer programs will be introduced in 5 institutes to make the staying in the hospital more pleasant for the patients and to help them in the first period after getting out of the hospital. Also the curriculum of the method of volunteer-coordinator training will be improved and our network expanded.

Organising services to provide complex integrational, community building techniques and essential job market skills for the disadvantaged inhabitants of Gilvánfa and its micro region, where the majority of the population is of Roma origin.

The goal of the project is to support the education and mental health of the children of Hernádszentandrás. The program will be implemented with the involvement of a nursery teacher, a primary school teacher and a psychologist.

The core element of the project is to organise artistic training and workshop for handicapped people who live in special community homes provided by the social services, based on the foundation’s 5-years old tradition. The goal of the project is to achieve a year-long course of fine art with methodology workshops and eventually to publish the works of art.

The project targets young people (age 10-14) living in Százhalombatta region, educated in integrated and segregated schools for pupils with special education needs. After the selection and motivation, specialists focusing on the weak points will acarry out a development program for 20 healthy and 20 handicapped students.They will organise riverbank and aquatic activities, paying also attention to environment protection, which develop social-, motion-, communication skills and personality primarily through indirect, individually taylor-made methods.

The goal is to alleviate existing social disadvantages – lack of education, unemployment, deep poverty, bad infrastructure, bad health conditions and associated psycho-social problems - in the village of Tarnabod, as well as to help local inhabitants finding individual ways of coping, and to generate community activity programs, which on the long term can promote community welfare and provide models and tools for the local inhabitants enabling them to find a remedy to their problems in the future.

The aim of this project is to sustain the scholarship program run by Romaversitas since 1999. As a result all students should accomplish their academic studies and obtain a degree within the stipulated training period; the intellectual atmosphere and training programs as well as other related services should increase the chance for students to meet not only the minimum requirements but to become highly skilled professionals with a healthy self-esteem. Thus, within he scope of its limited opportunities, Romaversitas should contribute to the strengthening of the Roma middle class in society and to creating equal opportunities for young Roma during their academic years, providing talent development services and conditions necessary for students expanding their capacities.

Hungarian energy policy needs a general and major shift in order to create the foundation of a sustainable and climate friendly economy, society and public sector. The project aims at influencing three segments of public sector: political decision makers, public institutions and municipalities. Energy Club will raise their awareness towards sustainable energy policy making, provide them advice, experts and “know-how” and will maintain information channels between them and the society.

The foundation aims to protect some specific natural values through its advocacy work. They will work to set positive precedent cases and to enforce positive legislation practice.

The association aims at informing people about the fast and sometimes damaging economic and ecological changes in our everyday life. To this end, they will create a documentary film series based on the questions and answers of the “Dropping Knowledge” online database. The films will promote concrete solutions showing successful foreign and Hungarian examples and experiences.

In the European Union today 40% of the total energy consumption is spent on the operation of buildings. Several NGOs are trying to raise awareness to the efficient use of energy, but these campaigns still cannot reach the citizens of disadvantaged regions. The aim of this project is to raise awareness and knowledge about climate change, the efficient use of energy and to change the composition of energy consumption.

HuMuSz (Waste Reduction Alliance) will introduce and promote the "Zero Waste” Concept in Hungary – to the public, the various forms and levels of environmental management, planning and decision making bodies. Zero Waste is a much broader concept than selective collection it is both pragmatic and visionary. It emulates sustainable natural cycles, where all discarded materials are resources. Zero Waste means designing and managing products and processes to reduce the volume and toxicity of wastes.

The aim of the project is to make the local decision-makers and young people of Székesfehérvár city consider sustainable development in decision making and in their everyday lives. Thus Gaja starts an open multi-element public campaign to reach the out target audiences in their own places and language.

Active and pro-active protection and development of the traditional permaculture type orchards and the related natural values in Gömör sub-region. Preservation of local cultural heritage and knowledge by bringing new skills and information to the region as well as increasing the activity of the local people in the field of genetic resources and habitat conservation.

Promotion and revitalisation of animal-keeping, grassland management, community-based farming, nature conservation, development and improvement of rural livelihoods by strengthening local identity and creating employment.

The goal of the project is to establish the trademark "Living Tisza", and to create a community supported agricultural system in the Bereg, the Bodrogköz and Nagykörű and environs in Hungary. The organisation will persuade farmers, processors, retailers and customers to join this trademark and direct marketing system, and to encourage farmers to change their production system to produce healthy products in an environmentally friendly way.

The aim of the project is to strengthen healthy and safe food production and consumption structures. For the sake of this goal the organisation will advocate for an environmentally friendly agricultural policy that ensures proper quantity and quality of food and will raise awareness on risks of GMOs amongst the farmers, decision-makers and the general public. A complementary element is to acquaint the target groups concerned with possibilities and dangers of energetic use of biomass.

This pilot-project aims at mitigating the impacts of climate change by means of enlarging the size and quality of green areas and facades in Veszprém city. This goal may be achieved through cooperation between the local government, the stakeholders of the social life and the business sector.

Project goals and objectives - to educate young generations to grow into environmentally and socially conscious and responsible individuals who reject our destructive ways of living and seek alternative ways towards a sustainable lifestyle - to inform the public about issues of sustainable lifestyle - to educate young people on global and environmental issues and to make them aware of relevant problems and possible solutions on a local level - to motivate and activate young people by involving them in projects which aim to protect and improve our environment.

104 kilometers of the river Raba in Hungary is in an absolutely intact state. This unique value constitutes a European heritage and should be treated as such from the point of the future generations. However, in this section, the surface and subsurface water treasure, besides having a significant value, is unprotected against public, industrial and agricultural pollution.

To reveal the shortcomings of Hungarian substantive and procedural laws from a climate change perspective what kind of climate protection provisions are missing, which branches of law are affected what kind of legal guarantees of implementation (institutional, financial, procedural, public participation rules and sanctions) are missing what kind of new provisions would enhance the situation. To achieve change of approach in both legislation and implementation of climate change laws, moving from a piecemeal approach to a holistic one. To compare the experience of three countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Slovenia). To help the Hungarian legislation integrate climate change aspects more efficiently.

The aim of the project is to promote the sustainable use of the local human, natural and built environmental values and resources among the different social strata and institutions of the municipality and its surroundings, and thus to permeate existing structures and activities with a view of sustainability, as well as to form new systems and approaches; present sustainable lifestyle models, community development, represent and enhance social solidarity.

In the South plain region, where the organisation is active, forest coverage is the lowest in Hungary. The treeless landscape heavily affects the macro- and microclimate, its effects may be seen in dust pollution, as well on the area’s natural values. By using academic knowledge and best practices, the organisation aims at improving the quality of life and the environment as well as increasing forest areas. They also plan to show the positive effects and versatile benefits of forest belts.

The goal of the project is to create an online natural history video-library for students and teachers in Hungary and other European countries. They will create an online natural history-video library - a kind of "Film Jungle" - in which the user can search for video-sequences showing certain animal or plant species, habitats, natural phenomena, etc. The selected sequences can then be dragged-and-dropped to a timeline. The user can also give titles, music and narration thus creating a short natural history documentary of his/ her own. The completed film can then be used, presented and shared for free.

The project's goal is to save the Hungarian Railway Network by stopping plans to close down 38 side lines, as well as to contribute to the rebuilding of sections closed after World War I. By this, to give motivation and hope to the local people, raise awareness and participate the decision-making, in order to demonstrate to decision makers that they should not decide about people without asking them and to enhance good governance.

Awareness-raising on sustainable public space use through promoting better understanding among public space users by exchanging views and motivations with each other, improving regulations concerning public space use, encouraging compliance with these regulations, distributing best practices in solving conflicts around public space use.

Being a18 years-old organiser/co-organiser of Earth Day events as well as key publisher of the Hungarian environmental literature, the foundation aims at developing more efficient ways to disseminate environmental literature and to make the organisation more sustainable. The foundation and the Earth Day movement will be 20 years old in 2010. This effort will inspire hundreds of thousands of people to do something (differently) as well as to spread the concepts of environment protection and sustainable development. This is the basis on which the project is built. The foundation aims at becoming a key source of what individuals can do better in their lives by providing up-to-date information and other means of assistance.

In animal protection cases, some of the main problems are the lack of professional preparedness among authorities and of citizen information and activity. Thus, the foundation aims at training civil servants and involving citizens in animal protection.

The aim of the project is to develop the web portal "greenfo.hu" into the news agency of the Hungarian environmental NGO sector, by passing on information more efficiently to the media and the general public about the activities and results of the NGOs. At the moment, there are only few materials published on the portal, written by the Greenfo.hu journalists. The objective is to write more articles and illustrate them with photos. Another function of the portal is to provide help through the “Green lawyer” section, which receives more and more requests about the legal aspects of environmental topics. Although the Aarhus Convention declares the right to access environmental information as a fundamental one, people usually do not know where to look for these.

The project aims at laying the foundations of a community based sustainable financial institution and at enhancing local economic/financial cycles. To this end, the organisation aims at raising public awareness about the environmental and social effects of individual financial decisions, and strengthening the integration of sustainable development into banking practices.

The project goal is to implement a sustainable self-supply and community self-support model on the levels of village household, local community and micro-region, also involving town inhabitants in order to ease the dependence on global systems, setting up and strengthening local, viable, small communities. This includes decreasing the burdens of rural environment, sustainable utilisation of unused arable lands for the local residents' earning a long-term living, and thus enhancing the settlements' capability for keeping and attracting population.

The project aims at promoting sustainable development and lifestyle by developing the green map of Budapest, highlighting the city’s “green” sites, locations and possibilities to support environmentally friendly consumer and lifestyle choices. The map also provides publicity for the green services providers (shops, NGOs, real food box networks, repair shops etc.) and the green points themselves (parks, nature heritage sites, public wells, museums etc.) too. The database and the map thus strengthens the market positions of these “green service providers”, and contributes to a more sustainable and balanced economic development, built on local resources, enhancing the city’s overall eco-effectiveness.

Kötháló is the national network of eco-counselling offices. They receive more than sixty thousand environmental inquiries from citizens annually. With this project they will develop their environmental counselling activity in order to simplify access to environmental information and to raise the number of citizens reached. Besides they will train their member organisations on how to provide street counselling.

Within the framework of the project, Ecoservice develops an online National Environnmental Education Guide to facilitate cooperation between schools and NGOs involved in environmental education in order to accomplish their role more effectively in forming the young people's environmental attitude. Besides, they promote these services to teachers through free-of-charge trial sessions and at expert forums.

Through the project, people of Bükkösd village can experience how parts of sustainable development work in real life by creating a publicly accessible organic model garden producing vegetables, herbs and spices on a one-hectar area.

Gemenc and Béda-Karapancsa are the vastest extent of natural-like floodplain habitats of Hungary. This region deserves the accentuated attention of nature conservation, but unfortunately these aspects do not receive enough emphasis in the management of the area. The foundation aims at drawing attention to problems of forest management and at provoking the concerned authorities to be more effective in the conservation of this region.

Since 1997, the foundation works on the treatment of personal and social problems caused by illegal substances. In reponse to changing drug use trends and social symptoms, in the pas few years the foundation turned toward a holistic approach to addictions.The Year of the Temperance will move further in this direction: the aim of the project is to disseminate techniques and methods for safer partying and safer substance usage, by creating a virtual and physical space which will move partygoers from the loose substance usage (which causes mental and physical harms) towards the safer, moderate consumption and behavior models. The design elements, main slogans and information of the campaign will be shown on the field at festivals, electronic dance scenes and other musical events.

Parties to the Aarhus Convention are obliged to submit implementation reports before each Meeting of the Parties, but the Convetion also it entitles NGOs to create their alternative reports. A working group of Hungarian environmental NGOs and experts have developed a paralallel NGO report alreafy for the second time, sent it to the Convention's Secretariat and presented at the third Meeting of the Parties in Riga, June 2008.

The Foundation won the Prize for their efforts made to protect trees.

The aim of the summer school was to talk about sustainable development on the basis of holistic thinking and to strengthen the movement background of civic organizations. During the one week camp the different actors of society could meet and share their knowledge, create new cooperation, etc. From the aspects of the economy, environment and society the summer school dealt with the large, global, and specifically Central and Eastern European challenges of our age, e.g.: climate change, food crisis, deep poverty, social inequality, human right deficits etc.

As part of their communication development CEEweb organized a one day Media Skills training. An experienced journalist gave the training on how to write high quality media materials and keep contact with the media

This new organization’ aim is to enhance this biogeographical unit and to revive faith in each other among local citizens. As a first step they are making contacts with civic environmental organizations to create a network. HEPF supported the costs of a conference where cooperation can start among these organizations.

Protect the Future applied in the name of the civic cooperation for the Hunyadi square. The aim of the project is to make the square, the farmers’ market and the market hall be rehabilitated based on the needs of the citizens, by keeping its original functions and without building an underground garage.

Loan to promote renewable energy sources.

In order to stop desertification, the association had the idea to plant trees on the playground. HEPF also supported the cost of making new benches and the renovation of the old but still usable ones.

The organisation received support the second time to further develop their outdoor classroom. This time they planted vegetation, painted the benches and separated the classroom from the other parts of the school yard.

A tourist rest was built at the border of the Danube-Ipel National Park. First, an illegal waste dump had to be cleared up, than the place was rehabilitated with new vegetation and a selective waste collection place was created.

The association aimed at restoring a seven acre big park forest. The volunteers of the organisation cleaned up the forest and than covered the soil with vegetation and lawn. Thus the recultivated area became a proper community place - for this function the association made a bench, a rain shelter and created a selective waste collection point nearby.

The club won support to renovate the yard and sport court of the local elementary school. They planted native trees, hedges and ivy and created a plant spiral. Several trash bins were also set in the yard.

A walking path was created in Harkány with the title "the hearts’ walk to the native trees". Along the trail several natives were planted, eachl accompanied by a plate describing the given vegetation. With the help of a map, tourists can walk along the trail, and if they finished receive a medallion. HEPF supported the project with the costs of the trees.

Almássy Park was planned and created together with the local citizens, who decided to build a community place with four different functions. Thus, the new park was built with a grill-place, a pavilion area, a playground and an open-air area just for sitting.

The association managing a Waldorf school in Győr aimed at transforming the school yard into an open community place. HEPF supported the costs of landscaping, field works, purchasing the scrogs and planting grass.

Oasis youth association is active in organising youth and community programs. Now they planned to renovate the public park of the city and create a green info point in the civil center. They received support for the costs of the native vegetation.

The alliance created a leisure park in the garden of the Gárdonyi Géza Elementary School, together with the teachers, parents and students. HEPF supported the open park to be planted with different types of maple trees.

The Balatonlelle School created an eco-park on the area belonging to the school. As part of the park a green classroom, a flower and a model garden was created, a compost bin was built, selective waste container installed and trees were planted.

The club applied to rehabilitate the medieval center of the city. With the involvement of volunteers they placed street furniture and playing tools and created green areas.

Thanks to the project of the foundation, the school yard of the settlement has been turned into a public space, open to every citizen. The area, used for community events, summer camps and art workshops, was rehabilitated with vegetation and new benches were made of environmental friendly materials.

The club decided to create an open park for everyone with the help of the citizens. HEPF supported the costs of native plants, the lawn and also the making of benches and waste bins.

As part of a comprehensive village protection and renovation program Mihálygerge association wanted to reconstruct both banks of the ‘Foliage’ creek. They received support for tree planting, to create a park and install waste bins.

The organisation can now transform one of the largest community spaces of the settlement with the help of HEPF. The association carries out the works with the help of volunteers and the members of the organization.

The foundation applied to renovate the old wooden toys and tools of their playground and to plant native vegetation.

An elementary school is being built on an eroded land, in the Szakáts-garden of Göd. During the building authorization process the Danube-Ipel Nature Park Authority ordered the planting of native trees. This area is being developed with several functions: an eco-garden, a grove playground, thematic class gardens and a compost container. Thus the park will serve the school and the local community, too. All the works and the maintenance are being carried out by the families from the school and volunteers of civic organizations.

The garden of the religious school in Zalaszentiván was rehabilitated with native trees and new benches. HEPF supported the costs of the vegetation.

Based on the cooperation of civic organisations and the local government, a playground and leisure park can now be renovated in the block-flat quarter of the city. In this project HEPF supported the costs of new vegetation and street furniture.

HEPF supported the rehabilitation of a public space around the community building of Szatymaz. With the help of the municipality local volunteers planted trees and placed a bicycle rack in the park.

Pontes created a park in the middle of Nagyvázsony. HEPF gave support for the trees and scrogs and for the creation of street furniture (benches, tables, waste collectors, etc.)

The foundation aimed to rehabilitate the park of the local elementary school. The works were carried out by the local community, the teachers and students of the school and the experts of the local institutions.

The Park of Túrkeve is the biggest open space of the town with the market and water tower located here, and also a cultural center. The association wanted to restore the area. HEPF supported the project with the costs of the vegetation.

The foundation started to renovate a playground in the town by using local ceramic art in environmentally friendly way in 2006. Now they applied for complementing this park with a native hedge.

The lake of Pilisszentiván, a highly important nature value and a popular destination for excursions, at winter time is also used for ice-skating. The local association won support to replace the trees on the lake’s promenade.

The Wekerle Club applied to plant trees at one of the nice squares of the neighborhood that’s main function was a playground until now.

The association strives to renew a different place of the city each year. This time they turned an area with a line of wine cellars into a community place with a leisure park. HEPF supported the costs of bike parking racks and native plants.

For a while now, the association has been planning to create a leisure park for the schools and citizens in the Lake Street. After a longer preparation process they started to create the park, and now with the support of HEPF they were able to finish these works.

The creation of "Twittering Park" supported in the Green Belt 2006 urged the foundation to initiate an environmental enhancement program for the whole settlement. The aim of the project was to plant trees, plants and flowers on 3042 m2 and place selective waste collectors. The works were done by civic organizations and citizens, and the maintenance will be carried out by public benefit workers.

The once beautiful but by today totally dilapidated interior park of the warren has been rehabilitated by the housing estate's inhabitants, the urban civic organizations and the local school with native plants and grass.

The association created a playground and leisure park with the help of the municipality, the citizens, the school and the kindergarten. The park, located in the most densely populated part of the city, was rehabilitated with various plants and herbs and benches.

Based on the volunteary work of the citizens, the school foundation of Botfa developed the castle garden that is used as the community garden of the Mindszenty Youth Center.

The foundation applied to create willow buildings on a grassy area along the Rákos-creek. During the planning process, the 2/b class of the local elementary school created a ‘felicity – sorrow’ map. The new plan of the park was made based upon the ideas of that map with the help of the parents and other school mates. During the implementation several willow buildings were built, and two benches were removed from under the high power wire. Besides a line of info boards were erected about the flora and fauna of the creek, about the foundation and its future plans.

The association aims at rehabilitating and enhancing the environment through information dissemination and action. In this program they decided to create a leisure and sport park in the environs of the local swimming pool. HEPF supported the renovation of the field and the costs of the plants.

On the island of Eden-2 water reservoir a model garden is being created for visitors by the association. Besides the plants HEPF supported the creation of benches and waste bins.

The Foundation of the Muhi Elementary School decided to plant trees in the garden of the local Leisure Center. From the HEPF grant they could cover the costs of the trees.

On the occasion of the 14th annual meeting of the "Jász" people the club renovated the community park of the town. After the field works the park was planted with different vegetation and grass, and the pavement has been restored; too.

Wild Flower Foundation won Green Belt Prize and a small grant for the best project among the grantees of Green Belt 2006. They can spend the grant on developing their earlier park project.
