Real Civil Partnership Prize and Grantee of the Year

The Civil Partner Program office awarded the Real Civil Partnership Prize third time on the 21st of March 2008 to acknowledge local authorities. This year a local government, the Community of Nádasd received the award. The municipality, nominated by the Association of Community Developers was honoured for involving the local community in the whole process of creating the settlement’s development concept.

This symbolic prize is being awarded since 2006. Civic organisations may nominate local governmental or regional public administrative institutions for their exemplary cooperation with NGOs. Since 2007, central administrative authorities may also be nominated for the prize.

This years’ winner has really accomplished the kind of cooperation, for which the prize was initially established. It gave us a further proof that we are on the right track when we give this symbolic prize based on civic organisations’ nominations. Thus, we can promote co-operation based on equal partnership, not deformed by the selfish interests of the parties.

At the same time it may be worth noting that similarly to earlier years, no central administrative authority was nominated for the prize. An explanation for this may be that the relation of NGO’s with the public administration is extremely complicated. Therefore these institutions cannot be considered so good examples that could stand as models for other bodies.

Grantee of the Year.

In 2008 Round-forest Foundation received the “Grantee of the year” award.

With the award we acknowledge transparent, open use of grants beside the successes of the programs carried out by the grantee. During the last 10 years Round-forest Foundation became a considerable organisation in its region. With an innovative project they also achieved the inclusion of environmental aspects and the involvement of different interest groups in the process of forestry planning.
