Csemete Association – Watervein rehabilitation based on water retention at the Tápéi meadow
Nowadays, agricultural areas and plow-lands occupy much of the historical floodplains in the corner of the Tisza and Maros rivers, and thus, regularly occuring inland inundations are entirely channeled away. Hence the natural waterveins preserving one-time rich wildlife are drained regularly. Little rationalization could change this process, preserving water, and with small interventions even more can be achieved.
The association's program included the realization of a water retention plan, removed waste, planted trees, and conducted a basic survey about the wildlife. All these activities were carried out in partnership with local authorities and NGOs.
